Obituary for Patricia A. Robbins
Patricia A. Robbins of Wheat Ridge, died on September 27, 2017, at Lutheran Medical Center, following a brief illness. Daughter of Frank and May Robbins (both deceased); sister of Nancy R. Mitchell (James B. Mitchell); aunt to Sallie, Lilian and Evelyn Van Tassel; and kind and loyal cousin, colleague, friend and neighbor to many.
Pat (Patsy to her family and close friends) was born in Salt Lake City, UT, on October 3, 1942, while her father was serving in the U.S. Army. She moved to Denver, her father's home town, in 1945, following his discharge from the service. In 1947 the family moved to North Denver where they lived on Raritan Street for more than 30 years. Patsy attended Beach Court School, Horace Mann Junior High School, and North High School, prior to attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
She held several secretarial positions in private industry prior to beginning her long and distinguished career with the Colorado state government. She worked for the University of Colorado Medical Center and for the Office of the State Attorney General, retiring after 35 years of service. She was a exemplary career public servant and received outstanding service recognition upon her retirement.
Family was the primary focus of Patsy's private life. She was a strong and loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin, giving tirelessly of her love, support, time, energy, and good will. She was particularly devoted to her niece, Sallie Van Tassel, her nephew, James F. Mitchell (deceased), and to her great nieces, Lilian May and Evelyn Ann Van Tassel.
Patsy served in a number of volunteer positions over the years, providing service to her community in many areas:
Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church - Deacon for several years and active volunteer in other projects;
Arvada Police Department - Administrative office support and leading tours for Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops;
Optimists' Club - Member for many years and participated weekly in assembling backpacks with food and supplies for area school children, as well as other activities sponsored by the organization;
Lutheran Medical Center Gift Shop -- Volunteer for several years
Garrison Lakes Condominium Association - Served on the board of directors.
Following cremation, private services will be held, and Patsy will be buried in the Arvada Cemetery, Arvada, CO, next to her parents.
