Obituary for Wayne Marion Webster

Wayne M. Webster
Wayne “Web” M. Webster passed away peacefully at the age of 92, on October 8, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living in Colorado Springs. He is preceded in death by his parents William Webster and Leola Cline, his first wife Betty Webster-Dunivan, second wife Alice Webster, third wife Lola Webster, his brother William, and two sisters Rosalie and Kay.
He was born in Seibert, CO, and at the age of 17 joined the US Army to serve in WWII. In August 1943 he entered active service in the Pacific Theater proudly serving in the United States Army and eventually in the United States Navy. He saw combat action in the South Pacific with the army as part of the 1st Calvary Division and with the navy as a machine gunner aboard the naval destroyer USS Ammen DD527. During his service he fought in battles on Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea, and participated in the Philippine Liberation campaign. He was honorably discharged from both services after the war.
He married Betty Lou George on February 17, 1945, and after the war returned to ranching in Eastern Colorado. They moved to Denver in 1957 where he worked several jobs before joining the Coors Brewery Company. He retired from Coors after 23 years and spent his time in retirement traveling and “puttering.” He had an affinity for buying and selling cars and RV trailers but his first love was spending time with his family especially his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always seemingly busy he said, “The problem with retirement is you never get a day off” and that fit him perfectly.
He is survived by sisters Carm and Nola, his five children: Pamela Smith (Paul) of Parker, Paula Johnson (Steve) of Colorado Springs, Douglas Webster(Karen) of Darien, CT, Sherry Sickler (Dwight) of Sedalia, and David Webster (Emma) of Manitou Springs, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at St Luke’s Lutheran Church located at 13119 West 20th Avenue, Golden, Colorado, on Monday, September 23, 2017, at 9:30 am with internment at Fort Logan Cemetery at 11:15 am (staging area C)
