Jerry served his country as a U.S. Army Medical Corpsman in Vietnam over a 19-month span from 1969 to 1971 where he received a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in a combat zone. Upon his return from service, Jerry worked for the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier for 29 years and retired in 2008.
Jerry loved his family, his friends and enjoyed being surrounded by the outdoors. Jerry had a magnetic personality, a warm spirit and a laugh that will always be remembered for the good things in life. He was an avid reader of history, sports and anything offered in the daily Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post. He always provided for his family in good times and bad and possessed a life-long curiosity along with a love for learning that sustained him all the way to the end. Whether it was taking his son to a Broncos game, catching his limit at Lost Man Lake or dancing at special occasions, Jerry knew how to enjoy the simple things, a lesson for all of us. Jerry exemplified what it meant to be a truly genuine father, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He was loved by many, and we loved him back.
An open visitation celebrating his life with family and friends will be held at Aspen Mortuary (1350 Simms St, Lakewood, CO 80401) from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Thursday, February 23rd followed by military service honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery (4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236) at 2:30pm.
