Obituary of Paul A Erickson

Paul Erickson of Arvada, CO peacefully passed away on January 13, 2023, at the Collier Hospice Center after a brief illness. He was 81 years old at the time of his passing.

Paul August Erickson was born on December 14, 1941, in Calumet, Michigan to Johan and Hilda Erickson. He spent a happy childhood with his parents, his brothers, John and Bobby; and his sisters, Mae, Elaine, and Irene. He attended and graduated from Calumet High School in 1959. He then served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War.

Paul then married his first wife Joyce, and they had two children. Joyce had two children from her brief first marriage that Paul officially adopted. They were married for 34 years before she passed of a lung disease. He was later married to Linda for 9 years before she passed of ovarian cancer. At the time of his passing Paul was married to his last wife Robin for 9 years.

Professionally, Paul worked for 43 years at Murphy-Cardinal scales where he started by sweeping floors in Sacramento, CA and finished as the General Manager of the Denver branch office overseeing the sales and maintenance of industrial scales across multiple western states. Paul also dedicated his life to helping veterans with 40+ years of service to the American Legion. During this time, he served multiple terms as the Post commander for Post 161 in Arvada, CO. Additionally, he had multiple years of service on the American Legion State Finance Committee. He also dedicated his life to his family by being an example of what it means to be a good person. He was always kind and thoughtful with his time and words of wisdom and was the rock many people relied on. He was known for his infectious personality that allowed him to easily get along with anyone within the first 5 minutes of meeting them. He always had a joke to share to make you feel comfortable and at ease even up to his last moments in hospice.

Paul was predeceased by his parents Johan and Hilda, his wives, Joyce (34 years) and Linda (9 years); his sisters, Mae, Elaine, and Irene; and his brother, John. He is survived and beloved by his wife, Robin; his brother, Bobby; his sons Michael, Steven (Candy), and John (Denise); and his daughter, Polly. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He will be buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery at 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236 at 9 am, we are meeting at staging area A by the Sheridan Ave entrance. The service will take place after the burial at 11:00 am at the Neighborhood Friends church, 9889 W 66th Ave Arvada, CO 80004. The reception will then take place at 12:30 pm at the American Legion Post 161, 6230 W 60th Ave Arvada, CO.
