Obituary of Juanita Harvey

Juanita Harvey passed away on June 24, 2023 at the age of 91 in Arvada, CO.

Juanita, daughter of the late Louis and Mildred Graves, was born August 3, 1931, in Pueblo, CO. The family moved to Arvada, where her father’s family were early settlers. Juanita attended Arvada schools and attended Colorado State University-Ft. Collins for 2 years.

She met John (Jack) Harvey through friends, and they were married on September 24, 1950 in Arvada. They made their home in Golden, CO and were blessed with 2 children, Kathy and Gary.

Prior to getting married, Juanita was an active member of Jobs Daughters where she went through the offices and ended with being honored Queen. She enjoyed music and participated in marching and concert bands in Junior High and High School.

After being married, she belonged to a woman’s social sorority. Juanita and Jack were extremely involved in the Golden Fire Department. They both were members of the men’s and women’s Fire Department running teams. In later years, she was Bethel Guardian of Jobs Daughters in Golden, as well as involved in DeMolay.

Juanita had many hobbies including gardening, shopping, sewing, quilting, hiking, cooking, watching sports, documenting the weather, crossword puzzles, travelling and reading. She enjoyed Starbucks and eating out with her friends and family. Juanita loved spending time with her 2 granddaughters Meredith and Emily.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mildred Graves, her husband, Jack Harvey, and sister Agnes Haug. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Doug) Kelly and Gary (Nancy) Harvey; granddaughters Meredith (Kevin) Mosher and Emily (Scott) Hunvald, as well nieces and nephew.

A graveside service will be held on June 30, 2023 at 10:00am at the Golden Cemetery. A reception will follow at First United Methodist Church of Golden.
