Obituary for Dan Bloomdahl
Daniel Philip “Dan” Bloomdahl was born on August 28, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His parents were August Daniel and Valborg Gerdlund Bloomdahl. He graduated from North Park Junior College, where he met Sue Nelson. Dan also graduated from the University of Minnesota. He and Sue were married on June 22, 1957 in Jamestown, New York and soon after moved to Aurora, Colorado. In 1964, they had a new home built in Cherry Knolls which is now Centennial. In 1999, they relocated to retirement living at Covenant Living of Colorado in Westminster.
Dan’s career as a Certified Public Accountant extended into retirement as he shared his skills with the Mile-High Council of the Girl Scouts, Covenant Heights Bible Camp, Covenant Village of Colorado, and the Westminster Legacy Foundation. His love for the game of golf kept him on the links as he sought the elusive hole-in-one. The Denver Broncos kept him entertained, sometimes frustrated, and often times celebratory. Dan’s lifelong passion for singing with church choirs, the Colorado Chorale, the Littleton Chorale, as a soloist and part of a trio, kept his performance voice strong.
He passed away peacefully on June 27. He was a devoted Christian and a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, and his sister, Muriel. He is survived by his two daughters Cheryl and Cindy Veith (Rick), four grandchildren Erik (Akaylah), Sarah, Jake, and Will (Elizabeth). He is also survived by great-granddaughters Abby, Afton, and Harper, two nieces, and a nephew. These special people always brought a smile to his face.
Gifts in Dan’s memory may be designated to the Benevolent Fund at Covenant Living of Colorado, the Memory Garden at Covenant Living of Colorado, or Denver Hospice.
We will remember him.
