Alice Ann Dunnewald Obituary (February 22, 1937-April 23, 2023)
Alice Ann Dunnewald passed away in Arvada, Colorado, on April 23, 2023. She was born in Laramie, Wyoming, on February 22, 1937.
Ann grew up in Laramie with parents T.J. Dunnewald and Helen Bishop Dunnewald and older brother, John Dunnewald. In her youth, Ann especially enjoyed sports and music. After graduating high school at University Prep (affiliated with the University of Wyoming), she attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she received a social science degree. She then moved back to Wyoming to work in the welfare department in Torrington. In 1964, she earned a teaching certificate at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). She then moved to the Denver area, where she was a social worker for the Adams County School District. In 1974, she went back to UNC for a master’s degree in special education. After graduating in 1975, Ann returned to the Denver area to work for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In 1981, she returned to the Adam’s County school district, where she worked as a teacher of special education. She retired from the school district in 1992.
Ann loved people from all walks of life, along with her many precious dogs and cats. She loved to travel and made trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Africa, and Europe with her family and also with long-time partner Barbara Jones. Ann is survived by her brother and nephews, Pete and Dave Dunnewald.
