Jim Lee

Obituary of Jim Lee

Our Savior, Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.  Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Jim Lee.

James Mathis Lee was born in Denver, Colorado on February 16, 1935, to Thomas A. Lee and Mabel G. Lee.  He was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism as a child at Valverde Presbyterian Church.  He was later confirmed in the Christian faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was fed the life-giving Body and Blood of Jesus.

Jim was united in holy matrimony to Marjorie Elaine Jackson on June 8, 1958, and they were blessed with 65 years of married life together.  God also blessed them with the gift of children:  Michael James Lee, Jeffrey Dean Lee, and Brandon David Lee.

In July of 1996, Jim and Marj joined Faith Lutheran Church.   They both served on the Evangelism Board.  Jim had a passion for the lost and erring.   He was also involved in the pocket cross ministry at Faith and made sure that every visitor was welcomed in the name of Christ, and given a pocket cross with the prayer included in the envelope.

Jim last received the Lord’s Supper on June 30, 2023, at the hospital.  His speech was difficult to understand toward the end of his earthly life, but that day his lips moved to the cadence of the liturgy mouthing the words, and when it came to the Lord’s Prayer, he prayed it out loud without missing a word!

On July 2, 2023, God called Jim home to heaven, having attained the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 16 days.  He is survived by his wife Marj, his sons, Mike, Jeff, Brandon and his fiancée Aimée; his grandchildren, Cameron, Bross, Sagan, Max, Marly, Ryley, Cameron, Trevor, and Logan; his brother, Jack Lee and sister in-law, Ann Lee; his sisters-in-law Cyndi Crumb and Shari Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. The address is 4785 Elm Ct. The service will be followed by a luncheon, and Committal at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., will begin at 2:30 p.m.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.  We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother, James Mathis Lee.
