Obituary of Dwane Raymond Winant Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dwane Raymond Winant Sr. on September 15, 2023, at the age of 76. Dwane was born on April 19, 1947, in Long Island, NY, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Dwane was a caring brother, devoted father, loving grandfather, and adoring great-grandfather, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around him. He carried himself with grace and had a knack for brightening any room with his welcoming smile. Dwane's stories and jokes brought laughter to his grandchildren, creating cherished memories and filling their hearts with joy. His selflessness knew no bounds, always going the extra mile to lend a helping hand to those in need. Dwane's thoughtfulness extended beyond words, as he embraced his loved ones with firm hugs and made a point to say "I love you" before parting ways. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immeasurable, and his legacy of love and care will live on through them.

Left to cherish his memory and carry on his values is his sister Barbara. Forever in his memory were his beloved children including daughter, Jennifer of Myrtle Beach, SC, his son Dwane Jr. of Agate, CO, and his daughter Kelly of San Angelo, TX. Dwane's laughter and love will be forever treasured by his grandchildren, Chris, Katherine, Brianna, Summer, Samantha, Megan, and his nine other cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, who were touched by his unconditional love and affection. Dwane was preceded in death by his dear parents, Dorothy and Raymond. Also preceding him in death was his sister Sandy.

In his earlier years, Dwane bravely served in the United States Navy for two years, exhibiting deep patriotism and dedication to his country. Following his military service, he  worked for North Anna Power Station from 1974-1989. After this long journey he embarked on a successful 20-year career at Klockner Pentaplast, where he demonstrated his commitment and work ethic until his retirement in 2008.

During his leisure time, Dwane found solace and enjoyment in a variety of hobbies. He delighted in watching horror shows and westerns, finding escapism and entertainment in their narratives. He also cherished the simple pleasures of dining out and exploring new culinary experiences. Dwane had a wanderlust spirit and took pleasure in traveling, engaging in new adventures, and discovering the beauty of different places. His passion for fishing allowed him to appreciate the tranquility of nature and spend peaceful moments by the water. Dwane valued the friendships he formed during his time as a trucker and enjoyed engaging in lively conversations with his buddies. His movie days with his grandchildren were particularly cherished, providing him with quality time and a chance to create lasting memories. Also, catching Dwane without his suspenders drawn high was a rare sighting. He enjoyed his lottery and his Reese’s milkshakes from the corner store on a hot day.

A ceremony to honor and remember Dwane's life will be held, as we gather to pay our respects, share stories, and celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives. As per his wishes, Dwane will be respectfully cremated.

Dwane Raymond Winant Sr. will forever be remembered as a loving brother, compassionate father, doting grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. His legacy of love, warmth, and kindness will be carried on by his family and those whose lives he touched. May his soul find eternal rest and peace.
