Marjorie Ruth Cocchiarella

August 5, 1936 – September 22, 2023

 

Margie was born in Winthrop, Minnesota – the daughter of Arthur and Alida Grane.  The family moved to Echo, Minnesota in 1941 where Marge completed her education, 1st through 12th grade.  Margie’s father, Arthur passed away when she was 13 years old and her mother, Alida then raised her three daughters – Margie, Lynette, and Diane.

When Margie was 18 years old, she married David Slettedahl with whom she had two sons – Michael and Scott.   During their marriage Margie and David lived in various small towns in southern Minnesota.   After her divorce from David, she moved to Minneapolis where she resided until 1971.   Her path then took her and the kids to Denver where she then married Joe Cocchiarella and in the 80’s was then divorced from Joe.

Margie was a strong, self-made woman – forging her career through the business world as a bookkeeper, then office manager for the then Lew Hammer, Inc. which was then acquired by Randall and Blake, Inc.   She was known as being a key leader in the management of RBI and retired after 25 years of service.

Loving travel, she consistently vacationed every year for several months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  She visited Europe several times and flew to Germany and Oslo, Norway with her sisters and mother.

Surviving family members include her sons, Michael Slettedahl (Luana); Scott Slettedahl; her twin granddaughters, Nicole (Blake) Goering and grandsons, Caden, Rowan, and Noah; Amy (Joel) Heap, and granddaughter, Rylynn and grandson, Cody.  Her sister Diane (Velton) Michael, niece Susan (Roger) Plank, nephew Steve (Amy) Michael and their children.  Additionally, her nephews Jeff (Brenda) Gigstad and Marc (LouAnn) Gigstad and their children.

Margie is preceded in death by her father, Arthur Grane, her mother Alida, her sister, Lynette, both of her former husbands, and her nephew, Peter Gigstad.
