Obituary of Brett Daniel Luben

Our dear son Brett passed away on September 26, 2023 at the age of 38.

Brett was born in Denver, November 29, 1984.  He attended Westgate Elementary School where he developed his first crush on Ms Cheadle (yes Don's sister).   I clearly remember his comment to Ms.Cheadle  in the school's newsletter Valentine's Day edition- "Ms. Cheadle, I like you"!  While in elementary school Brett was in the Gifted Student program for Jefferson County and went on a trip to NOAA.   Brett also won the Westgate Geography Bee but did not pass the test to advance to state finals.  In junior high Brett discovered both snowboarding and roller hockey, two sports that he developed a passion for and participated in through college and beyond.  Brett also was on the tennis team at Bear Creek High School.  He graduated from Bear Creek High School in 2002.  He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he met some of the best friends of his life. He lived with those friends for his last two years of college along with another roommate -Powder the cat.  Powder was a sweet cuddly soul and lived with Brett or his immediate family for the rest of his life.

Brett spent a couple of years working in Beaver Creek at the ski resort. He also worked at Red Sky golf course in Vail and was called "Pan"  (translated- Bread) by his spanish speaking co-workers as his name sounded like the word bread.

When not working,  Brett enjoyed traveling with friends .  He traveled to Whistler in Canada, to Montana, to various states within the United States and spent 8 months living in Australia. While in Australia he studied tourism.

Brett was a loving and loyal friend, a loving brother to Colin and a loving son to Deb and Ralph.  He had a soft heart for animals and one of our cats, Paco, decided to make Brett his person.  Paco was always either curled up in bed with Brett or hanging out on Brett's sofa while Brett worked on his computer.

Brett will be sorely missed by his family.   The Luben family requests that friends and family leave remembrances of Brett on this obituary site to preserve and honor his memory.
