Obituary of Jose Luis Padia

Jose Luis Padia  July 30, 1939 ~ November 6, 2023

Jose Luis Padia was the first born child of Joe & Mary Padia on July 30, 1939. His three siblings John, Connie and Linda were all born shortly thereafter. Together they grew up and shared a close childhood in Erie Colorado.

Joe went to Erie High School and excelled in academics, athletics and a whole bunch of havoc. He could tell stories for hours about his high school days, always cracking his audience up.

After high school, Joe entered the workforce as a mailroom clerk at the State of Colorado. It was there that a supervisor picked up on his keen sense of mathematics and encouraged him to go to college and get a degree in accounting. He did just that and worked his way up through the state to the position of State Controller. He maintained that position with pride until his retirement in 1989.

Joe had three children Veronica, Danette & Chris. He would often speak of his children with great pride; Veronica of her love and compassion for life, Danette of her independence and love of travel and Chris of his strong loyalty and family values.

In 1980 Joe met Lorrie Chavez at The Merry Go Round and the two had an instant connection. Together with their six children, they lived a wonderful life filled with travel, family, dancing, laughter and love; lots and lots of love.

After a courageous six year battle with lung cancer, Joe passed away surrounded by love at 6:50pm on Monday November 6, 2023. He was very much looking forward to being reunited in Heaven with loved ones, specifically his parents, his daughter Veronica & sister Connie. He spoke of this often and through that we find comfort.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joe & Mary Padia, his daughter Veronica Padia and sister Connie Conlon.

He is survived by his wife Lorrie Chavez, Brother John Padia, Sister Linda Talavera (Jake), Daughter Danette Villavicencio (Mac), Son Chris Padia (Angie), & Grandchildren Marcus Padia, Lexxia Villavicencio (Fabiana), Jaden Padia, Trent Padia,
