Obituary of Jay Lang
John Lang
6/16/1956~11/10/2023
John “Jay” Lang of Broomfield Colorado, passed away at his home on November 10, 2023. He was 67 years old. Jay was born in Dayton Ohio, to John and Stella Lang. He was the fourth child of six. The family relocated to Colorado when he was about five years old. Jay was an honorably discharged Air Force veteran, serving four years as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. After his service, he attended Colorado Aero Tech and became a certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. He went on to become a Master Instructor and a Dean of Students at Colorado Aero Tech. He also earned an Associates Degree in General Studies from Front Range Community College of Denver. His greatest passion was music and playing various musical instruments, primarily in the “string” family. He was a talented songwriter and guitar player and, for a period of time he was a music instructor at Front Range Music. He shared his musical talents and mathematical skills by tutoring many individuals in the Broomfield area over the years. Jay was always working on projects. Be those designing and building several of his own guitars and speaker cabinets for personal use; or putting the “Jay Lang” touch on an off-the-shelf instrument. He was in constant pursuit for the best guitar available. Jay was a prolific, unpublished, songwriter, composing 100s of songs. He also taught songwriter composition to some of those that he tutored. Jay enjoyed fishing and camping in our beautiful Colorado Mountains, and riding his custom motorcycle that, of course, he built himself. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and patriot and he will be greatly missed by all those who were part of his life. He is survived by his wife Laurie of 32 years; his brother Tim Lang and brother Chris (Jody) Lang; as well as his extended family, brother-in-law Michael (Nancy) Dykstra, sister-in-law, Laura Dykstra and sister-in-law Ginnie (John) Brandsma and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his father John, mother Stella and his younger brother Patrick. In honor of Jay’s life, a memorial service will be held at 11am on November 21st at the Arvada Aspen Mortuary (6370 Union St.) followed by a reception at The Apex Center (13170 W 72nd). Jay will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan on November 28th in a private family graveside service. Since his passing was so close to Veterans Day and with Jay being a veteran himself, donations can be made in his name to the Colorado Veterans Project
