Kay Rush

Obituary of Kay Levon Rush

On Thursday November 30, 2023 Kay L Rush loving Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma passed away in Wheat Ridge Colorado at the age of 87 from complications resulting from pneumonia.

Kay was born in Sterling Colorado, the second child of Leonard and Verda Bunning.  She spent her early years living in Iliff, Colorado. She moved to Sterling Colorado with her family shortly before starting her sophomore year of high school and remained in Sterling until she was married.

Kay attended Sterling High School with her older sister Carol Bunning. She was very close to both of her parents as well as her only sibling Carol. She did well in school, but she said it always came hard for her.

Shortly after graduating high school, while working at a laundromat she met and fell in love with Daryl Rush. A short courtship of only a few months and they were married. They lived in a small apartment above Simkins Grocery store located on Main Street.

Within a year Kay and Daryl moved to Arvada Colorado seeking better employment opportunities. They moved in with Kay’s sister Carol and her husband until they could get settled.

In 1960 they purchased their first home located at 5410 Jellison St. Arvada and would remain there until 1995.  In 1995 Kay and Daryl moved for the last time into their home on 54th Ave, just around the corner from their first home.

In 1963 Kay gave birth to her first and only child Mark Alan Rush. Kay and Daryl made the decision that she would be a stay home mother and home maker.

Kay and Daryl remained lovingly together until his death in December of 2021. Due to health issues, she would have to leave her home within a month of Daryl’s passing to The Garden’s on Quail, an Assisted Living Care Facility.

During Kay’s life time, her greatest passion and accomplishments were her family. She Loved being a wife to Daryl, a mom to Mark and his wife Theresa.  She adored and loved her four grandchildren Eric and his wife Chelby, Kyle, Holly, Jake and great grandson Carson Daryl Rush.

She was a selfless loving and giving person and her family loved her and we will miss her terribly.
