Obituary of Dale Richard Hunzelman
Dale Richard Hunzelman, age 91, moved on from this world on December 10, 2023. He was ready to reunite with his beloved wife of 65 years, Evelyn, who went to heaven 7 months ago. She meant a great deal to him and was his trusted compass. She helped him navigate each day through his struggles with advanced Alzheimer’s. He was a lost soul without her. Both were residents at Ralston Creek Neighborhood in Arvada, Colorado.
Dale was born on March 18, 1932, in State Center, Iowa to Leland and Edith Hunzelman. He had one younger sister, Jane Bainer, and a brother-in-law, Harry Bainer. He has hopefully reunited with all of them in heaven.
Dale graduated from Fort Collins High School and was drafted shortly thereafter. He joined the Navy and served on the USS Hector in Japan during the Korean War. After the Navy, he came back to CO where he took some college courses and dabbled in sales for Kirby Company and Ricoh. Dale went on to become an accountant and was a partner for many years with the accounting firm, Dalby and Associates. After leaving the accounting business, he was the Controller at RW Specialties for 25 years, and then retired.
Dale lived his life to the fullest, loved his family, enjoyed time with friends and wanted everyone around him to have a good time, especially during the holidays or other family celebrations. He enjoyed playing golf and pool as often as he could with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and any card game, but especially Gin. He was an avid gardener who sought the perfect tomato and corn on the cob every summer as well as the best garlic crop. Always needing to stay busy, he made Holy Moly boards, wine cork trivets and learned how to play Pickle Ball in his later years.
Dale is survived by his two daughters, Cheri Sneith (Gary) and Carla English (Dom); three grandchildren, Cory Sneith, Taylor Sneith (Alarie) and Max English and two great grandchildren, Paxtyn and Lylah Sneith.
We were blessed to have Dale in our lives for as long as we did. We are comforted by the fact that he will be reuniting with all who have passed before him and hopefully playing a lot of pool and golf. His laughter and zest for life will be greatly missed. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Dale Hunzelman, please visit Tribute Store
