Obituary of Robert Cecil Hogan

Robert (Bob) Cecil Hogan was born September 16, 1936 and died peacefully with his beloved daughter Lisa and son-in-law Michael at his side at home on Monday, December 25, 2023. He was under the care of Denver hospice.

Bob was born in Jamestown, ND to father Cecil Frances Hogan and mother Eva Stewart. He was the youngest of four brothers and he had four sisters. Bob stayed busy along with his brothers going to school and working various jobs in his teen years to help support the Irish family. He left Jamestown and moved to Fargo, ND to finish his high school years. He met the love of his life Maggie (deceased) in Father Potters English class. After graduation, Bob enlisted into the US Marine Corp. based at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA and Maggie attended nursing school in Breckenridge, MN. They reunited in 1959 and in 1960 they were married in Fargo, ND and settled in Arvada, CO in 1967. They had two children Paul Mark (deceased) and Lisa Marie.  They had six grandchildren, Bryan, Fr. David, Meredith, Patrick, Drew and Matt.  They also had five great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Luke, Peyton, Brody and Karson. One great grandchild is on the way and due next spring.

Bob ran a very successful business in the optical glasses world for nearly 50 years in Colorado after running a Big Boy restaurant and race track in Fargo, ND.  He retired at age 83 and was very proud of that.

Bob had a great sense of humor, patient, loyal, kind and a gentle man. He cared about everyone while always being optimistic in life.  He made the world smile and was very well liked by his partner, customers, staff at the hospital where his main office was located, parishioners at his church and his family and friends.  Bob’s great loves were his deep devotion to God, family, cars, dogs and watching football. He served as a sacristan and volunteered many hours at St. Joan of Arc for over 20 years. He was such a great person to love.  He will be greatly missed.

May he rest in peace and be enjoying a cup of coffee with his wife and son in heaven.
